Many people are surprised to learn that the Brant County SPCA is not funded by the government. Yes, we work hard to apply for grants (and are so grateful when we receive them) but our organization relies on events, sponsorships, donations…and most importantly, people like you to support our life saving work.
People like 9-year-old Claire, our official Second Chance Circle Ambassador.
With the support of her parents, Jenilee and Kyle, Claire launched her own pet care business: C. Avey Pets in 2022. What began as pet sitting for family and friends has grown into a thriving business built on compassion, dedication, and heart.
But Claire didn’t stop there.
She manages to give back at every opportunity. She’s raised funds for us through Cupcake Day, brings joy to seniors through pet visits at a local retirement home, and has even hosted a Pet Pics with Santa event to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Canada. Recently, Claire stunned us once again by an incredible act of generosity:
Claire and her family recently became members of our Second Chance Circle. Claire is one of our youngest monthly donors but her impact is anything but small. Every single day, Claire shows up for animals. “She does chores every morning, afternoon, and night to make sure the dogs have what they need,” her mom shares. “I think it teaches her so much compassion.”

Claire believes patience, planning, and positive energy are the keys to caring for animals. “What you give is what you get back,” she says.
It’s a simple idea, but a powerful one.
Because that’s exactly what monthly giving is all about. Showing up. Month after month. Making sure animals have what they need: food, care, comfort, and a second chance.
Our monthly donors are the backbone of everything we do. They give us stability, hope, and the ability to say “yes” when animals need us most. And if Claire can make that kind of difference…imagine what you can do.
Will you join Claire and become a monthly donor today?
