Emergency Preparedness

Plan for your Pets!

There are many circumstances that can put us in a position where we need to have an emergency plan put in place for our pets. Whether we’re forced to leave our homes quickly or fall ill and are unable to care for them ourselves, it’s important to plan ahead.

Try to keep vaccines up to date and ensure your animals always have their collars and ID tags on them. If you’ve recently moved, be sure to update your pet’s microchip information to ensure the proper information is stored.

In the event that you are unable to care for your pet, identify 2 emergency caregivers who can care for your pet until you recover. Having an emergency kit to go with your pet along with instructions for care are vital to guaranteeing that your pet is comfortable and well cared for during the time period you are away from them.
