In Ozzy’s short life, he has known suffering…
He has known sorrow and heartbreak and pain – and yet, a glimmer of hope still shines in him. He still greets our staff with a wagging tail and those pleading puppy dog eyes that steal your heart.
Almost exactly two years ago, Ozzy walked through our doors with his sister, both fighting for their lives. They had 0% body fat when they arrived, nothing to keep them warm from the unpredictable weather. Ozzy weighed half of what he should have as a 5-month-old pup, and his sister was no better. We weren’t sure what the future held for the two siblings, let alone if they would make it through the night. We relied on our incredible community of vets, staff and supporters to ensure these animals got the care they deserved and little by little, they improved and went on to be adopted as healthy and loving pets.
But then unforeseen circumstances brought Ozzy back through our doors. No longer the thin, shaking pup we met two years ago – but a big handsome boy with a smile that reaches from ear to ear. Considering his past, it’s no surprise that Ozzy would need time to build trust, but as our staff have seen, his personality is worth the patience.
We searched for the perfect home for Ozzy one that was willing to work with him on his manners and help him create structure for his life. But then – Ozzy injured his leg on a walk – an injury that would require a cruciate repair, and cost around $4,600.
Ozzy needs you once more.
Ozzy heads into surgery and we’re prepared to pay what is takes for him to have his happily ever after. But Ozzy and several other of his furry friends have needed us in 2026. Between countless dentals, injured paws, upper respiratory infections and more, our Project Patchwork animals have already put a strain of $16,728.85 on our resources – and once Ozzy’s tab is paid, it will take us to over $20,000.
We’re asking you to not only help Ozzy, but to donate today so that we can continue to offer life saving procedures to any animal that walks through our doors. So that we can continue to give them the second chance that they deserve.
Ozzy will need a safe space to recover after his procedure, and we would like that to be in the home of a loving foster family. Our incredible fosters are already stretched thin and finding one that lives in a home with few stairs and no other animals has proved difficult. If you’re willing to help Ozzy in his journey to recovery – please call the shelter at 519-756-6620 and fill out a foster application here: https://www.brantcountyspca.com/foster-2/
