Benz is Becoming His Best Self

Meet our newest Project Patchwork recipient, Benz. He needs your help.

UPDATE
Our sweet boy, Benz, went into surgery today (August 9, 2021). After further diagnosis in the operating room, the doctor felt that his leg appeared to be healing enough that Benz may once be comfortable again. The Doctor proceeded with his necessary dental work and left us with an updated treatment plan. Benz will stay on bed rest and continue his pain medication before undergoing his next appointment.

Despite this change in treatment, Benz’s care plan is much different than the typical Spay/Neuter. Between medication, x-rays, dental care, and recurring appointments, this boy is benefitting largely from our Patchwork Program and its donors. Meet our newest Project Patchwork recipient, Benz. He needs your help.

This sweet, older gentleman walked into our shelter with love in his heart and a limp in his step. He started out a little nervous and unsure, but after realizing we were there to help, he opened up, welcoming all the cuddles and pets our staff happily handed out.

When we learned about Benz, we knew he would have a few initial obstacles to overcome. In addition to some dental issues, we suspected there would be some work needed on his back leg. Sweet, gentle, and calm, you wouldn’t tell by looking at him that he would need an amputation, but once he was assessed by the amazing team at Fairview Drive Pet Hospital, that was the prognosis 🩺 Benz will undergo this surgery THIS MONDAY, AUGUST 9, 2021.

Please consider helping Benz on this journey by donating here or on our website: https://www.brantcountyspca.com/project-patchwork/.

Leg amputations come with a hefty price tag and with the dental work added in, Benz is looking at a vet bill totaling over $1000 dollars. With this knowledge, we immediately enrolled him in our Project Patchwork Program. Funds raised through this program allow us to care for animals whose needs go beyond the typical spay/neuter. Allowing us to provide the necessary care that animals like Benz deserve. And you, our community continue to make this possible.

We can’t predict what animals come through our doors each day or the care that they will need. When you donate to our Project Patchwork program, you prepare us for the unknown, so that when animals like Benz come through our doors, we’re ready to help.
