Jacob’s Journey

Jacob’s Journey

Jacob came to us on May 12th 2018; a sweet shy dog with a limp and a wound on his leg that caused concern. We promptly got him to a vet where it was confirmed that he was suffering from an old fracture, and when blood work was done we saw that Jacob faced an even bigger challenge: heartworm. Heartworm is a serious disease that can be deadly to an animal and the road to recovery is not a short one. With this diagnosis Jacob would be unable to have any medical work done on his leg. We immediately enrolled him into our Project Patchwork program that funds the extreme […]

Orphaned Wildlife

Orphaned Wildlife

April showers bring may flowers, everyone knows that! But it also brings a lot of young wildlife into the world! This time of year we typically receive calls from concerned citizens regarding orphaned wildlife. The best chance for any orphaned animal is to be reunited with their mother whenever possible. If you come across a possibly orphaned animal, please consider these steps below and do not relocate the animal. However, either animal […]

Brant County SPCA Community Connection

Brant County SPCA Community Connection

We continue to supply the Brantford Food Bank with pet food for distribution and have also supported the Six Nations Food Bank and Animal Control by providing them with necessary dog and cat food. We understand that many people in need might not have access to these outlets and […]

Candy The Boxer is Fighting for a Sweeter Future

On March 4th Candy will face life changing surgery to remove the large benign masses on her mouth. On January 11th, our Animal Services Team members picked up Candy; a timid boxer with a sweet disposition and gentle touch. But there was something clearly going on that demanded medical attention. Several large masses hung from her mouth in a way that made you wonder how she ever ate or drank. She was posted to our Lost and Found Facebook Page where she immediately made waves. Her sad eyes and painful looking masses caught the attention of our followers and they immediately shared in our concern, requesting more information, asking for updates […]
