It’s National Volunteer Week in Canada and we would like to recognize the many dedicated volunteers who make our life-saving work possible.

Barb VanLinn and her family have been opening the doors of their home to animals in need for 6 years now through our Foster Friends program. The loving care that the family provides to each and every foster animal is extraordinary and we feel very lucky to have them as part of our extended family.

In Barb’s own words, this is why they volunteer:

“Six years ago we became aware of the SPCA’s Foster Friends program through a newspaper article. We filled out an application that day and have fostered ever since. We got involved because we love animals but also because we believe in the SPCA and their commitment to the work they do in our community.

People are always asking ‘Isn’t it hard to let them go?’. The answer is yes, sometimes there’s even tears. But it’s very special to watch timid or sick kittens flourish and thrive with love and care. It’s wonderful to be able to see these happy and healthy bundles of joy off on their journeys to their Forever Homes. Goodbyes don’t need to be sad 🙂

Thank you to the Vanlinn family and all of our Brant County SPCA Foster Friends for providing such nurturing homes our shelter animals can enjoy safe and sound while awaiting adoption. We certainly couldn’t do it without you!
